Join us for our Church-Wide Fast on April 29, 2026
Fasting, Biblically speaking, is a Christian’s voluntary abstinence from food for spiritual purposes. It is voluntary because fasting is not to be forced or coerced. As you study fasting in scripture, you will read of many different reasons and different variations of fasting, but the goal is to help you grow spiritually. No matter how you fast, whether from food or from something else, the primary reason is to learn to rely on God. We are suggesting those who would like to participate in this fast to do a "dinner to dinner" fast starting after dinner on Tuesday, April 28th, and ending at dinner on Wednesday, April 29th. If you are unable to fast for medical reasons or you feel that it would be unsafe for you to do so, please do NOT fast from food. We also encourage you to drink plenty of water during the fast.
Prayer and Bible Study flourish when fasting. We want to really focus on prayer during this time of fasting. We have taken special prayer requests from the congregation. As you fast, continuously keep these individuals and others in your prayers. Fasting is not meant to manipulate God into answering our prayers, but through prayer and fasting, we can learn to trust in Him and experience the peace that only comes from God. Donald S. Whitney says, "Fasting does not change God’s hearing so much as it changes our praying.”
If you are able and willing, we will break our fast together at 6:00 pm on Wednesday. Meet in the Fellowship Hall and bring your own dinner.
